I spend a lot of time online and these are some of the resources, influencers and tools that I recommend checking out. I don't receive anything from these recommendations, I just want to share good things worth sharing.
News / Politics / Civics
- Ground News - In their own words - Ground News is a platform that makes it easy to compare news sources, read between the lines of media bias and break free from algorithms. See blindspots you may have and see how different media sources report about the same story.
- AllSides - Similar to Ground News in presenting news from all sides in an effort to remove bias. Website and Mobile apps.
- FactsHQ / The News Girl -Lisa Remillard covers the news on many social media channels as "The News Girl" and has recently started a SubStack community called FactHQ. Great breakdown of daily/weekly news.
- Under the Desk News - V Spehar has been a mainstay in the online independant news space for a number of years. They lean left but their news is fair and balanced. They also have a SubStack community.
- BrynoDC - Bryan is a former prosecutor and teaches civics and law in an amazing easy-to-understand format. His SubStack and TikTok are full of great content on how our government works, current legal proceedings and more.
- Generic Art Dad - You can find him on most social as well as YouTube. Great breakdown of current events/topics.
- Politico Joe - Political commentary and news.
Health & Science
- Dr. Zachary Rubin MD - Pediatrician, Allergist, Immunologist. Great content and breakdowns of misinformation that is being pushed. Also on YouTube and Instagram.
- Dr. Jessica Knurick, PhD, RD - Nutrition, Immuno Response. All about nutrition, food health and fighting misinformation in the health and wellness space. She backs up her content with data.
- Dr. Noc - PhD - Biotech researcher that covers general health to help fight misinformation.

Podcasts
- The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart. A podcast featuring in-depth conversations with a range of special guests. From experts and advocates, to stakeholders and thought leaders, we discuss the challenges, changes, and ideas that are shaping our world. (Free)
- Making Sense - Sam Harris. Most episodes are paid with some amount for free. Sam is definitely on the left, but I typically find that he is willing to engage with anyone.
